這個展演之中將使用孟加拉在地水果「棗子」，「棗」在中文中的發音和「早」這個字一樣，也有人會以這個水果作為祝福的象徵，「早生貴子」這個詞彙常見於中國的傳統社會，特別是婚禮、慶祝或祝福語中，尤其是長輩對新婚夫婦的祝福，期望他們能早日生育並且生育一個「貴子」，即一位受尊重的男孩。在這個背景下，「貴子」的性別預設是男性，代表了對男孩的偏好。因此，從性別的角度來看，「早生貴子」這個表達反映了傳統社會對男性後代的重視，有性別偏見的成分，強調男孩的價值，而忽略了女孩的同等重要性。隨著臺灣現代社會性別平等的發展，這種觀點逐漸受到質疑，並且被認為帶有性別歧視的色彩。這個表演過程將已串成一環的108顆棗子慢慢剪斷拆解，並分送棗子給在場的人。為什麼是108這個數字呢？這和台灣在地宗教佛教與道教使用的佛珠有些聯繫，108顆此數量最為常見，代表息滅煩惱，三十六種煩惱又有過去、現在、未來三世，合為一百零八種煩惱。希望這個演出能夠將「身體是誰的？」這樣的問題再次的提問出來。

"The wish that was made"

This performance will feature the use of the local Bengali fruit "jujube." The pronunciation of "棗" (the word for jujube) in Chinese is the same as "早," which means "early." This fruit issometimes used as a symbol of blessings. The phrase "zao sheng gui zi" (早生貴子),meaning "have a child soon," is commonly found in traditional Chinese society, particularly inweddings, celebrations, and well-wishes, especially from elders to newlywed couples. Itexpresses a hope that they will soon have a child, preferably a "gui zi" (貴子), a highlyrespected boy. In this context,"gui zi" is gendered male, indicating a preference for boys.From a gender perspective, the expression "zao sheng gui zi" reflects the traditionalsociety's emphasis on male offspring and carries an element of gender bias, emphasizingthe value of boys while overlooking the equal importance of girls. With the development ofgender equality in modern Taiwanese society, this perspective is increasingly questionedand regarded as having a discriminatory connotation.In this performance, 108 jujubes, which are linked in a continuous chain, will be slowly cutand dismantled, and the fruit will be distributed to the audiences. Why the number 108? Thisrelates to the Buddhist and Taoist practices in Taiwan, where 108 beads are commonly usedin prayer beads, symbolizing the elimination of worries. These 108 worries are divided into36 categories that span the past, present, and future, thus totaling 108 worries. Through thisperformance, we hope to revisit the question,"Whose body is it?"
